I'll begin today's post with a suggestion:

Study your Bible in chronological order of the Books.
I find this method most appealing, especially with the New Testament.

Colossians Chapter 1 verses 15-18

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

This is a description of Jesus, the Christ.

It is imperative to believe that God is and that the Bible is His Word. Sin precludes men from this belief.
A study of the God of the Bible is important because it determines our concept of the world, sin, life, duty and conduct. Bible study should produce a definite influence on our worldview and have an obvious effect in our behavior and character.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-58896182812341277122011-11-23T00:38:00.000-05:002011-11-23T00:38:16.052-05:00Dr Lutzer at Bughouse Square 2009 1Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-42419164242225233502011-10-31T19:50:00.002-04:002011-10-31T19:52:24.483-04:00PerspectiveRevelation Determines Worldview.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-19553275481267210212010-07-05T23:43:00.000-04:002010-07-05T23:44:47.713-04:00Book ReviewLies The Government Told You
By Judge Andrew P. Napolitano

Mr. Napolitano has discovered many interesting observations through research of the US government. Each chapter of his book, “Lies The Government Told You“ describes freedoms that we, the US citizens have lost as a result of government action.
While reading this book and afterward musing its contents, I became angered and disgusted because of the government’s intentional desecration of its people’s rights. The lost freedom described in this book may or may not be reclaimed by the people. Mr. Napolitano emphasizes that he is making us aware so they we may wake up and use the freedom that we still have to make changes necessary to restore our freedom and to protect them from power hungry politicians.
The freedoms that we have lost and those freedoms in danger of losing affect every part of our life. Some freedoms are lost in times of crisis, whether it is of natural or national. Lost freedom is always preceded by government promises that it is best for us.
I won’t go into detail, however, I do recommend this book. You will be surprised at the eye-opening discoveries of our government actions.
Let me make it clear that I think Mr. Napolitano is not against our government as it was intended but angered at individuals and the two party system that has taken advantage of our freedom.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-991364470965389882009-12-02T21:00:00.002-05:002009-12-02T21:05:42.354-05:00Book Review "Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World"Living With Confidence in a Chaotic World
Dr. David Jeremiah

Dr. David Jeremiah is a pastor of a Church in California. He provides teaching regularly on radio nationwide. He also authors several other books. I have read many of his books and have listened to his radio program.
This book “Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World” is written appropriately for this current time of crises. With his excellent use of the English language, Dr. Jeremiah uses antidotes for current life chaos using words beginning with the letter “C”. A remedy for each crisis is provided in each chapter of the book.
Dr. Jeremiah gives examples of current crises such as losing jobs and financial institution failures. He advises the reader in each crisis to “stay” calm, compassionate, constructive, etc. Since the Christian believes in the rapture of the Church, Dr. Jeremiah exhorts Christians to “stay” the course.
The reader is encouraged to watch the skies for Christ’s return and to keep faith in Him who can bring us through the chaotic times. Stay confident in God’s Word and don’t give in to the circumstances of life.
Contrary to my first impression, this is not just another psychological self help book. “Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World” offers real advice and comfort to those who will believe Dr. Jeremiah’s recommendations. I highly suggest this book for the sincere reader.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-82777202707305653692009-11-06T21:39:00.000-05:002009-11-06T21:41:34.939-05:00Worldview is ExperientialChristians should not be content merely with knowing mentally the doctrine
of the Holy Spirit as given in the Bible; they also need to know Him
experimentally. The Anti-Christ will promise peace and deceive the world. Many are deceived today as they will be at that time. The unsaved at the Tribulation will deify the one who promises peace just as they do now and as with many "professing" Christians today will do anything for peace and prosperity. Let us examine ourselves to know if Christ really is first in our life so that deception will not prevail over discernment. Christ will remove the Church prior to the Tribulation. When He calls, will we be ready to let go of everything and everyone? This should also be our present state of mind and being.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-46924835781378847292009-10-03T20:44:00.001-04:002009-10-03T20:49:21.090-04:00Book Review of Fearless by Max Lucado"Fearless" by Max Lucado

Fears common to everyone are analyzed by Max Lucado in this book. These fears mutual to people are characterized in separate categories. Each chapter title is a catchy descriptor for fear. The subtitles describe the fears. The author portrays fear in a storied format with each solution in a Christian perspective. Some characterization of fear is personal to the author.
In chapter one the author answers the question of why we are afraid. He uses real life instances of individuals‘ experiences. Bible verses accompany each scenario pointing to Christ as the source for dispelling fear.
Chapter two addresses the fear of a feeling of low self worth. A scenario is given in a mildly humorous poem. The reader is directed to Bible scripture that describes the great worth that Christ places on each of us.
Disappointments in life and fear of disappointing God is addressed in chapter three.
We always remember the bad experiences in life. The author offers scripture explaining God’s grace and continual forgiveness directed to all who seek it.
Worry is the topic of chapter four. We all worry to some degree. Again the author use scripture that summarizes the point that worry cannot improve any situation in life. In fact worry is described as destructive.
Those, who have children, at times have been afraid for our children. This fifth chapter suggests we give our children over to the care of Christ. Scripture is given supporting evidence that Christ is more than capable for care of our children.
The fear of being overwhelmed by life’s challenges are discussed in chapter six. We, at times, have experienced fear of loss or pain. Scripture is offered to the reader explaining that Christ is near to us and that we can depend on him.
Chapter seven deals with paranoia and anxiety. When these fears are experienced to the extreme, the author offers the answer of prayer and trust in God.
In chapter eight, the answer to the fear of experiencing violence in life is to trust in God. The author offers scripture to God’s people that encourages us not to fear for God is with us.
Fear of losing possessions is the focus of chapter nine. No one wants to lose their home or job. The reader is encouraged to trust in the Lord and not things.
The ultimate fear is portrayed in chapter ten as death. A comparison is made between the belief in after and the belief that this life is all there is.
Hope is offered in chapter eleven to the fear of what may come next. We experience fear of the future. The hope is given by God as His Spirit to us.
Chapter twelve gives us doubt. We doubt that God is real. The author indicates a solution to doubt by believing God’s Word which is the Bible.
The fear of the possibility that things may get worse is the topic of chapter thirteen. The reader is encouraged to trust in the Lord and wait on Him. He has won the ultimate victory.
A healthy fear is the fear of the Lord as is the title of chapter fourteen. In fact, the author states, that fear of the Lord is scriptural.
In summary, I would recommend to all the reading of this book. This is first of Max Lucado’s books that I read. I would consider reading another of his writings.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-39869061854724535632009-07-25T23:51:00.003-04:002009-07-28T22:59:18.819-04:00Presuppositional ApologeticsThis link contains a brief apologetics summary.

Presuppositional Apologetics

Shared via AddThisAwakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-1910969373890494022009-07-25T22:38:00.005-04:002009-07-25T23:17:40.705-04:00I have discovered that studying the Bible in chronological order of events is most helpful in understanding. I have a Bible reference that lists the books of the Bible chronologically. I used this reference until my wife recently gave me a New King James chronological study Bible.
I began this type of study about two years ago when I was studying Paul and his epistles along with the Book of Acts. I would recommend this chronological study if you are interested in following Paul's journey and influence on the early New Testament Church.
The Bible obviously is not layed out in chronological order and sometimes it is difficult to follow along in the Old and New Testaments.
I prefer to study the Bible in a sequential expository method.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-61984862931017840262009-07-03T23:38:00.003-04:002009-07-03T23:45:14.668-04:00Paul is, in my opinion, the most influential of the New Testament authors. His work exemplifies him as a missionary statesman. His foresight led him to select and train young and strong workers who would carry on the work after him. Paul was the interpreter of Jesus Christ to the Gentile world. It was God’s work through Paul that a world-wide destiny of Christianity was established. Paul’s writings formulated, interpreted and applied the essence of Christianity and showed how the application of his epistles could be accomplished. His theology was personal and experiential in Christ.Awakenedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01984123505137166032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1420510936270741385.post-90298198570405785372009-06-27T18:35:00.003-04:002012-04-25T22:32:15.687-04:00BelieveIn the Bible, the writers presupposed God’s existence and assumed His existence as a fact.
